Animals play an essential role in permaculture systems. Chickens eat pests and produce manure. Ducks clean rice paddies of snails. Fish turn pond water into fertilizer. In Thailand, integrating animals into your farm is a tradition that goes back thousands of years. The key is designing systems where animals and plants help each other.
