📖 Introduction / บทนำ

English

A food forest is a garden that imitates a natural forest. Instead of rows of one crop, a food forest has layers — tall trees, smaller trees, shrubs, herbs, groundcovers, vines, and root crops — all growing together. In Thailand, we are lucky because tropical food forests grow incredibly fast. Mango, jackfruit, banana, papaya, moringa, and lemongrass can all grow in the same space!

Adjectives describe nouns. They come before the noun in English: tall tree, deep roots, fertile soil. We can use adjectives to describe plants, soil, and features of our food forest.

A food forest needs less work than a conventional garden. Observe which plants are struggling and which are thriving. Chop-and-drop prunings as mulch.
