Healthy soil is the foundation of all permaculture. Without good soil, plants cannot grow, animals cannot eat, and people cannot thrive. In Thailand, many soils have been damaged by chemical farming. The good news? We can rebuild soil using composting, mulching, and natural methods. Soil is alive — it contains billions of tiny organisms that break down organic matter into nutrients for plants.

Understand What Soil Needs
